ACC sues hospital officer, wife over Tk1cr illegal wealth

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against a store officer of Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital and his wife on charges of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk 1.4 crore beyond their known sources of income.

The accused are store officer Habibur Rahman of the hospital in Dhaka’s Uttara and his wife Sheuli Rahman, alias Mosammat Sheuli Akter, who is also the female vice chairman of Nabinagar Upazila Parishad in Brahmanbaria.

ACC Assistant Director Rafi Md Najmus Sadat on Thursday started the case with its integrated district office in Cumilla, said ACC Assistant Director Shafi Ullah Adnan.

According to case details, Habibur has amassed movable and immovable wealth worth Tk 24.89 lakh and Sheuli amassed moveable and immovable wealth worth Tk 79.25 lakh.

Habibur joined the Nabinagar Upazila Health Complex under the health directorate in 1988 as a health assistant. He was promoted to the post of storekeeper in 1993 and store officer in 2015.
