The digitisation of land development tax has earned the Ministry of Land over Tk 350 crore within one month, said Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury.

The minister said this during a public awareness meeting organised by Chattogram District Administration and the Divisional Commissioner’s Office on the occasion of Land Service Week on Saturday.

During his speech as the chief guest, Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said about Tk 350.5 crore has been collected in revenue since the system was fully digitised on April 14 this year.

The total revenue collected in FY21 was Tk 445 crore and in FY22 was Tk 649 crore. The minister expects to collect Tk 2000 crore annually if the progress continues.

“The Ministry of Lands once had a bad image and I was worried about it when I was the state minister. I was able to build up the ministry’s image again through hard work,” Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said adding that all types of land services including land development tax and land registration are now available online.

Later, the minister distributed compensation checks to the victims of various development projects in the district and visited the stalls provided by the land offices of various circles of the district for the land service week.

Chattogram District Commissioner Abul Bashar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman presided over the programme and Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Dr Md Aminur Rahman spoke as a special guest.
