ACC sues ex-OC Abdullah for Tk 18.15cr illegal wealth

The Anti-Corruption Commission on Thursday filed a case against Syed Abdullah, former officer-in-charge of Mathbaria police station in Pirojpur, his wife and mother-in-law on charges of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk 18.15 crore.

The anti-graft body’s Assistant Director Mustafiz filed the case with its integrated district office in Pirojpur against Syed Abdullah, his wife Farhana Aktar, and his mother-in-law Karima Khatun, said ACC public relations officer M Arif Sadiq.

According to the case, Syed Abdullah, who is now posted at the office of Superintendent of Police in Feni as inspector, joined the police in 1991 as a sub-inspector. He was promoted to the rank of inspector in 2007. He was working as the OC of Mathbaria police station in Pirojpur from March 29, 2019, to March 24, 2020.

During his tenure as OC of Mathbaria police station, he allegedly abused his power, developed good relations with drug dealers and smugglers, recorded false cases and amassed huge amounts of wealth.
