Bangladesh has received the first shipment of 336,000 doses of the Johnson and Johnson’s single-shot Covid-19 vaccines under the Covax scheme.

The shipment from US arrived to Dhaka on Thursday, confirmed Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Director Shamsul Haque.

For the first two doses of its inoculation campaign, which began in February last year, Bangladesh used vaccines from Pfizer, Moderna, Oxford-AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, and Sinovac.

The inoculation through this vaccine will require a single dose whereas all the other vaccines need a course of two periodic shots.
