CMOSH organises awareness-raising event on dementia

The neurology department of the Chattogram Maa-O-Shishu Hospital Medical College (CMOSH) organise an awareness-raising programme on Tuesday with Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd as the scientific partner.

The event was chaired by Prof Dr ASM Mostaque Ahmed, Principal of CMOSH Medical College. Prof Dr Taher Khan, president of the executive committee of the hospital and Prof Dr Md Hassanuzzaman, Head of the neurology department were present as the chief guest & special guest respectively.

Prof Dr Maliha Hakim, head of neurology at the National Institute of Neurosciences & Hospital, has been working to raise awareness on dementia among the people of Bangladesh for more than two years.

She said as the keynote speaker, “Everyone should be informed about dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. The more people know about these diseases, the more the service and recovery rate will increase”.

“When someone is suffering from memory problems, it is seen as a mistake and ignored. So they’re not getting the necessary services and support even from the closest people.” She added.

Other distinguished doctors of CMOSH Medical College along with Prof (Colonel) Ghulam Kawnayn, head of neurology, CMH and Dr Md Abdullah Yusuf, Associate Professor (Microbiology), National Institute of Neurosciences & Hospital were present as panellists of the event. 

Ahammod Sharif of Incepta pharma gave the vote of thanks as many renowned physicians of the country also attended. Prof Dr Maliha Hakim was presented with a crest by the organisers of the event.
