Bangladesh reported four new coronavirus-related deaths and 674 infections in a 24-hour period till 8:00am on Monday.

The country’s daily cases crossed 600 last on October 8, 2021 with the logging of 645 cases and seven deaths.

The positivity rate during this period marginally increased to 3.37 per cent from Sunday's 2.91 per cent.

In Bangladesh, the daily-case positivity rate reached its peak 32.55 per cent on July 24 last year.

The overall caseload now stands at 15,87,140 and the total fatalities at 28,081 according to the press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 19,980 samples at 852 laboratories across the country. Bangladesh has so far tested 1,15,25,832 samples.

Meanwhile, 214 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,49,771.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 last year and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year.

Meanwhile, the global Covid-19 caseload reached 290,204,823 and the death toll to 5,445,076 till Sunday morning, according to US-based Johns Hopkins University (JHU) update.
