Bangladesh on Saturday registered 17 more Covid-related deaths and 9,614 new infections, with the country's daily test positivity rate at 28.02 per cent.

According to latest data from the Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS), Bangladesh's total death toll now stands at 28,209 and positive cases 16,74,230.

The country detected its first Covid case on March 8, 2020, and death on March 18, 2020.

Of the 17 deceased, 11 were male and six female and they were aged between 21-90 years old, added the DGHS release on Saturday.

Dhaka division logged the highest deaths with 11 fatalities, Chattogram and Khulna divisions reported two each while Barishal and Mymensingh divisions logged one each.

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 34,311 samples at 857 laboratories across the country.

Bangladesh has so far tested 1,20,82,026 samples.

Meanwhile, 482 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,56,079.

On Friday positivity rate was 28.49 per cent which was 2.43 on January 1.
