Bangladesh recorded another 10,888 fresh Covid-19 cases with a test positivity rate of 26.37 per cent in the last 24 hours till Thursday morning.

The new cases were detected after testing 41,292 samples at 857 laboratories across the country during the period. The daily-case positivity rate rose to 26.37 per cent from Wednesday’s 25.11 per cent, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Bangladesh has so far tested 1,20,07,581 samples.

As per the World Health Organisation, a test positivity of over 5 per cent is a key concern for any country.

During the same period, the country registered four deaths from Covid while it was 12 the previous day.

Among the fresh fatalities, one was male and three female and they were aged between 21-70 years old, added the DGHS release on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the mortality rate was recorded at 1.70 per cent during the period.

Dhaka and Chattogram divisions logged two fatalities each. Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, Sylhet, Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions reported no new deaths.

The fresh numbers took the country’s total fatalities to 28,180 while the caseload mounted to 16,53,182.

Meanwhile, 577 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,54,845.
