Bangladesh on Monday registered 29 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, while the daily infection rate slightly rose to 0.79 per cent.

The health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 3,681 samples at 883 laboratories across the country.

On Sunday, the test positivity rate was 0.67 per cent.

With the fresh infections, the total caseload reached 20,36,556, according to the daily virus update by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The country recorded one more death from the disease in a 24-hour span, after six consecutive days of no Covid death. With the fresh casualty, the toll rose to 29,432.

On November 21, the DGHS reported one death.

Meanwhile, 116 patients recovered from the infection over the last 24 hours, pushing the overall recovery to 19,85,694.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8, 2020, and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 of the same year.
