Covid: Daily infection rate drops to 9.77%

Bangladesh on Monday registered 1,072 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, while the daily infection rate declined to 9.77 per cent.

On Sunday, the test positivity rate was 11.12 per cent.

The country also recorded seven more Covid-related deaths in a 24-hour span, taking the tally to 29,241.

With the fresh infections, the total caseload reached 19,97,412, according to the daily virus update by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 10,974 samples at 880 laboratories across the country.

Meanwhile, 1,997 patients recovered from the infection over the last 24 hours, pushing the overall recovery to 19,26,957.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8, 2020, and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 of the same year.
