Covid: Daily positivity rate drops to 29.17%

Bangladesh on Tuesday recorded another 13,154 new cases of Covid-19, with the country's daily test positivity rate declining slightly to 29.17 per cent.

Also in the last 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) recorded 34 more coronavirus related deaths, taking the total death toll from the deadly virus in the country to 28,425.

Bangladesh’s total number positive cases now stand at 18,11,987 since the country first detected Covid patient on March 8, 2020.

On Monday, the positivity rate hit 29.77 per cent.

The daily case positivity rate reached its peak of 33.37 per cent on January 28 this year.

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 45,093 samples at 867 laboratories across the country. Bangladesh has so far tested 1,25,23,775 samples.

Meanwhile, 2,721 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24 hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,70,934.

The test positivity rate has been witnessing an upward trend since the start of the new year, rising from 2.43 per cent on January 1.
