Bangladesh reported three new coronavirus-related deaths and 892 infections in a 24-hour period till 8:00am on Wednesday.

The positivity rate rose to 4.20 per cent, up from Tuesday’s 3.91 per cent.

In Bangladesh, the daily-case positivity rate reached its peak 32.55 per cent on July 24 last year.

The overall caseload now stands at 15,88,807 and the total fatalities at 28,090 according to the press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 21,251 samples at 852 laboratories across the country. Bangladesh has so far tested 1,15,86,901 samples.

Meanwhile, 212 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,50,168.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 last year and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year.

Meanwhile, the global Covid-19 caseload reached 295,309,486 and the death toll to 5,459,123 till Wednesday morning, according to US-based Johns Hopkins University (JHU) update.
