Covid: Five more die in 24hrs

Bangladesh recorded five new Covid-related deaths and 480 cases in the last 24 hours till Saturday morning.

With the fresh casualties, the overall death toll rose to 29,368.

Earlier on September 26, the country in a 24-hour span recorded six Covid-related deaths, the highest since July 21.

Meanwhile, the daily infection rate increased to 15.28 per cent as the health authorities tested 3,141 samples at 881 laboratories across the country.

On Friday, the test positivity rate was 14.66 per cent.

With the fresh infections, the total caseload reached 20,25,677, according to the daily virus update by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Besides, 443 patients recovered from the infection over the last 24 hours, pushing the overall recovery to 19,65,631.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8, 2020, and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 of the same year.
