Four returnees from China have been kept in isolation after testing positive for Covid-19.

They arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Monday afternoon.

"As the faces of the four passengers were red, they underwent an antigen test and the report came positive," Dr Shahriar Sazzad, assistant director of the airport's health department told UNB.

Later, they were sent to Mohakhali DNCC Hospital to be kept in isolation, he added.

In the wake of the surge in the new sub-variant of Covid-19 infections, Omicron BF.7, in different countries, including China and India, the government has asked all to take necessary steps in maintaining health guidelines in all airports, land ports and sea ports across the country.

To contain the spread of Covid, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has instructed the authorities concerned to strengthen surveillance and screening of people coming to Bangladesh from countries including, China, India, Japan, South Korea, the USA, France, Brazil and Germany.
