Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Thursday said Cox’s Bazar district hospital will be turned into a 500-bed institution to increase healthcare facilities for the people.
“We have decided to increase bed capacity of the 250-bed Cox’s Bazar hospital, as a large number of people from home and abroad are taking healthcare services here,” he said at an event at the Cox’s Bazar Hospital, read an official release.
The health minister said, “A significant number of people from home and abroad visit Cox’s Bazar every year, and nearly 12 lakh Rohingya people are living in the district.”
So, it is urgent to increase the healthcare facilities of Cox’s Bazar Hospital, alongside providing quality medical services, he added.
