With three more deaths reported in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning, this year’s fatalities from Dengue climbed to 202.

During this period, 859 patients were hospitalised with the viral fever, show the daily update from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Among the latest deaths, two were reported from Barishal and another was reported from Chattogram, taking the toll in these two divisions to nine and 51, respectively.

Meanwhile, the death toll remained unchanged at 121 in Dhaka, 10 in Khulna, six in Rajshahi, and five in Mymensingh divisions.

Of the new patients, 426 were admitted to different hospitals in Dhaka and 433 outside it, according to the DGHS.

A total of 3,189 dengue patients, including 1,885 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country.

The DGHS has recorded 48,529 dengue cases and 45,138 recoveries so far this year.

This year’s fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease reached 182 on Tuesday, exceeding all previous annual records in Bangladesh.

The country posted the previous highest toll – 179 deaths from dengue with 101,354 cases – in 2019.
