Govt provides Tk70.50 lakh to 141 sick people in Ctg

State Minister for Finance Waseqa Ayesha Khan on Friday distributed cheques for Taka 70.50 lakh as financial assistance to 141 people suffering from six complicated diseases in Chattogram.

They received the cheques from the state minister Ayesha at a ceremony organised by Chattogram District Social Service Office at Chattogram Circuit House on Friday, a press release said, reports BSS.

In the event, Waseqa Ayesha Khan, also Awami League (AL) Finance and Planning Affairs Secretary, provided the financial aid to 141 patients suffering from cancer, kidney ailment, liver cirrhosis, stroke, congenital heart disease and Thalassemia, the release added.

Speaking at the ceremony, state minister said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is undertaking multifaceted activities to alleviate poverty and implement inclusive social safety net programs.

In the last 16 years, a total of Tk 9,00,000 crore has been allocated for the social safety net sector, she said, adding that such high allocation is rare in the South Asian region.

With Additional Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Chattogram Gholam Morshed Khan in the chair, the event was attended, among others, by, Deputy Director of District Social Services Office Md Faridul Alam.
