The National Technical Advisory Committee (NTAC) on Covid-19 has decided to tone-down the measures taken to prevent the infection but with certain recommendations in light of the current global status quo in their 63rd meeting held online presided by the Chair Dr Mohammad Sahidullah.

The committee opined that masks may no longer be needed to be worn in public but health officials, physicians, patients, and visitors in hospitals, especially the ailing ones who are prone to infection are asked to maintain caution and put masks on inside hospitals.

Despite WHO’s relaxation on their emergency measures, the IEDCR has been directed to be on the lookout for residual hazards even after the pandemic has weakened and has been asked to adopt a contingency plan if conditions ever deteriorate.

The committee stressed complying with the terms of entry in Saudi Arabia for Hajj pilgrims and other passengers are asked to sit well with the terms of entry in visiting their destinations. The committee opined that passengers are no longer required to undergo Covid-19 tests upon arrival.

Scientific facts are to be the hallmark of upholding discretions surrounding vaccinations.
