Health and Family Welfare Minister Professor Dr Samanta Lal Sen on Sunday said negligence of doctors while providing treatment to the patients will not be tolerated.
“I am urging the physicians to show highest professionalism while performing their duties . . . any kind of negligence will not be tolerated,” he told an orientation programme of the newly appointed doctors at Bangamata Sheikh Fojilatunnesa Mujib Convention Hall of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.
Director General (DG) of the Directorate General of the Health Services (DGHS) Md Khurshid Alam and DG of Directorate of Family Welfare Shahan Ara Banu, among others, were present at the function, reports BSS.
Samanta Lal said, “I have taken charge as the health minister for a three and half-month only. I will extend all my cooperation for the well-being of the medical professionals simultaneously. I am expecting good behaviour from doctors towards service-seeking people of the country.”
He said, “Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had dreamt to provide healthcare facilities to the doorsteps of the common people. I think you (doctors) are the main architects to fulfil the dream of the Bangabandhu by ensuring treatment facilities for all.”
