PPS workshop boosts dissolution skills for 138 pharma pros

Pasteur Pharmatech Solutions (PPS), the authorised distributor of the United States Pharmacopeia (USP), hosted a workshop on "Dissolution Performance Verification Testing (PVT)" on Monday at Dhaka’s Uttara Club. The event was organised in collaboration with USP India and Electrolab.

A total of 138 participants from various pharmaceutical companies attended, aiming to benefit dissolution chemists, analytical chemists, lab technicians, professionals involved in calibration and testing and regulatory professionals by enhancing their understanding of PVT dissolution operations and fostering direct interactions with industry and academic professionals.

Md Farooque Khan, chief executive officer (CEO) of Pasteur Pharmatech Solutions, delivered the welcoming remarks, while Matruprasad Priyadarshi, senior director of Regional Program Operations at USP, moderated the sessions. Mark Liddell, senior manager of the Dosage Form Performance Laboratory at USP, presented the keynote paper.

The workshop covered critical operational parameters for the accurate setup of dissolution apparatus, activities for proper qualification of USP dissolution apparatus 1 and 2, understanding and mitigating sources of variability in dissolution results and best practices for conducting the PVT and interpreting results.

The goal was to demonstrate how PVT serves as an active tool in quality control, ensuring batch-to-batch consistency of dosage forms and maintaining drug safety and efficacy. Participants received certificates upon completion of the training.
