Saima Wazed, RCC mayor discuss healthcare dev

Daughter of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, World Health Organization (WHO) South-East Asia Regional Director, and autism expert Dr Saima Wazed has discussed the expansion of primary healthcare services in Rajshahi with Awami League presidium member and Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor (RCC) AHM Khairuzzaman Liton.

During the meeting held at WHO Dhaka Office on Sunday, Dr Wazed expressed her interest in working with RCC Mayor Liton on the expansion of urban primary healthcare programmes, mental healthcare, and especially healthcare for the autistic population, read a press release.

Stating that he had a fruitful discussion with Dr Wazed, Mayor Liton said WHO has offered full cooperation in providing primary and mental healthcare to the people of Rajshahi, and healthcare to the city’s autistic population.

“We are optimistic that with the help of WHO, we can increase the quality of healthcare in Rajshahi and provide better quality healthcare in the above mentioned sectors. This will greatly benefit the people of this region, and Rajshahi will advance a lot in the healthcare sector.

At the beginning of the meeting, RCC Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton conveyed floral greetings to WHO Regional Director Dr Saima Wazed.

Senior officials of WHO, Rajshahi City Corporation Chief Executive Officer Dr ABM Sharif Uddin, Chief Health Officer Dr FAM Anjuman Ara Begum attended the meeting among many others.
