Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha on Monday visited several Rohingya camps in Ukhiya of Cox's Bazar.
He reached Cox's Bazar by air on Monday morning and went to Kutupalong 4 Extension Camp in Ukhiya. Later, he visited several other camps in Ukhiya.
At the camps, the OIC Secretary General held a meeting with representatives of the Refugee Affairs Commission, Rohingya representatives and officials from various NGOs and INGOs.
Additional Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (Deputy Secretary) Md Shamsud Douza said the OIC Secretary General exchanged views with the Rohingyas and talked about their problems.
He also visited BRAC's youth centre, tree plantation programme and other activities of various organisations.
Later, he returned to Dhaka.
On Sunday he urged the member states to do more and help the Gambia with funds to run the case in the International Court of Justice on Rohingya genocide.
"We call upon all OIC member states to join them in this case and give support to this fund created by OIC. This case is a top priority for us," the OIC Secretary General told reporters after his meeting with Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen on Sunday.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, OIC Secretary General and the President of Gambia sent a joint letter to the member states recently seeking support for the fund created by the OIC.
The OIC chief also lauded Bangladesh's efforts to host Rohingya people despite many challenges in Cox's Bazar.
