1,933 health teams to deal with Amphan

Convener of the Health media Cell formed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Additional Secretary of the Health Services Division Mohammad Habibur Rahman Khan said 1,933 teams of the health sector are working to deal with the super cyclone Amphan.

He said this at a press conference organized by the Health Media Cell in the conference room of the Ministry of Health Wednesday (May 20) afternoon.

Habibur Rahman Khan said there are 1,212 health teams in Chattogram, 303 in Khulna and 418 in Barishal out of 1933 teams.

These teams will work in emergency health care, including the provision of medicine to the 14 to 20 lakh people who have been taken to the shelters.

At the beginning of the briefing, Habibur Rahman said the media cell was set up to provide urgent and accurate health information to the people on a regular basis and that is how the cell is working.

The briefing was conducted by Maidul Islam Pradhan, Media cell member-secretary and public relations officer.

Additional Secretary of Health Services (World Health) and Media Cell member Reena Parveen, Joint Secretary (Public Health) and Media Cell member Nilufar Nazneen, Deputy Secretary of HR department and Media Cell member Md. Sarwar Hossain, Systems Analyst and Media Cell Member Ahmed Latiful Hossain also were present at the briefing.
