Based on Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven data analysis, a Singapore-based university has predicted that the coronavirus crisis can soon end in specific countries, including Bangladesh.

According to the prediction by the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), Covid-19 may end 97% in Bangladesh by around May 19 and 99% by May 30. The crisis will completely come to an end here by July 15. This prediction is a data-driven estimation of end dates as of April 25.

According to the university’s website calculating the data-driven estimates, the SIR (susceptible-infected-recovered) model is regressed based on the data from different countries to estimate the key dates of transition during the pandemic life cycle curve across the globe. The model uses data from Our World in Data and code from Milan Batista and applies the SIR Model for Spread of Disease to predict when the pandemic might end in different countries and in the world.

In Bangladesh, 418 tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours till Sunday. With this, the total number of infected reached 5,416 in the country on the 50th day of the crisis. The death toll now stands at 145.

As per the calculations, across the world, Covid-19 will end 97% on May 30, 99% on June 17, and 100% on December 9.

In South Asia, Covid-19 may end 97% in India by around May 21 and completely by June 26, and the pandemic will end 97% in Pakistan by June 9 and completely by September 1.

In the US, the Covid-19 outbreak is expected to end 97% around May 12, while in Italy and Singapore the pandemic will end 97% around May 8 and June 4 respectively.

The study expects that the coronavirus crisis will completely end in Iran on October 22, in Turkey on August 12, in the UK on August 14, in Spain on August 7, and in France on August 5.

The study also predicts that the pandemic will completely end in Germany on August 1 and in Canada on August 9.
