Global Covid-19 death toll reaches 328,095

Global deaths from the novel coronavirus infection reached 338,142 as of Friday (May 22) morning, according to the Johns Hopkins University tally.

So far, 5,210,065 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.

Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.

Among the currently 2,805,429 infected patients, 2,760,845 are in mild condition, which is 98 percent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. On the other hand, 44,584 of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only two.

So far, 2,158,556 people have recovered.

Meanwhile, a record 22 patients died from Covid-19 in Bangladesh over the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 386.

Besides, 1,773 more people tested positive, which is the highest single-day record of new infections in the country, making 28,511 confirmed cases in total.
