“The government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ensured vaccines for 80 percent people to fight against the Covid-19 pandemic,” said AB Tajul Islam MP of Brahmanbaria-6 while taking part in the general discussion on a thanksgiving motion on the President’s speech in the House.
Terming the pandemic a global disaster, the treasury bench lawmaker said the ongoing corona pandemic has already ravaged many developed countries in the world whereas the prime minster has taken so many initiatives to protect people from the disaster.
Praising the government initiatives to tackle the corona pandemic, State Minister for Information Dr Murad Hasan said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been appreciated by the World Health Organization (WHO) for her outstanding initiatives in tackling the pandemic.
According to the ranking by the US-based media group –Bloomberg, the state minister also lawmaker of Jamalpur-4 said Bangladesh secured top position in the South Asian countries and 20th among 185 countries in the world for fighting against corona pandemic in sustainable way.
But Pakistan remains in 29th, United Kingdom in 30th, USA in 37th and India in 39th position in this internal ranking, Hasan added.
Even the American influential business magazine ‘Forbes’ in its article has included the Prime Minister of Bangladesh as one of the most successful women leaders in the world for combating against the global pandemic, the state minster said in his speech.
Although Bangladesh has a lot of limitations, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been able to manage the overall corona situation and that’s why the corona contamination rate is remaining in lower level, said Abdus Salam Murshedy MP of Khulna-4.
Criticizing the BNP’s politics on corona vaccines, treasury bench lawmaker Monowar Hossen Chowdhury of Gaibandha-4, said the BNP is misleading the people over the corona vaccines.
To face the corona pandemic, the Prime Minister had announced nearly 1.25 lakh crore incentives and 21 stimulus packages to recover the economy, said Saifuzzaman MP of Magura-1.
Lauding the housing facilities for the poor, the treasury bench lawmaker said the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken initiative to provide housing facilities to more than 9 lakh poor families which is praiseworthy.
“Already more than 70,000 poor people have been rehabilitated to their own houses constructed and financed by the government which is unprecedented in the history of the world,” said the lawmaker.
Participating in the discussion, Jatiya Party lawmaker Pir Fazlur Rahman said providing residence nearly to 70,000 poor people is historical and the prime minister will be remembered in the heart of the people forever for this unique effort.
The lawmakers thanked President Abdul Hamid for elaborating the development and progress of the country which have been taken place during the tenure of the present government.
The lawmakers highlighted the successes of the present government in different vital sectors like education, power, agriculture, health, infrastructure development, economy and food production.
State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossen of Meherpur-1, and other treasury bench lawmakers Monjur Hossen of Faridpur-1, Shubid Ali Bhuiyan of Cumilla-1, M Dabirul Islam of Thakurgaon-2, Kazi Nabil Ahmed of Jashore-3, Mazharul Haq of Panchagarch-1, Begum Abida Anjum Mita of women seat-37, Shahiduzzaman Khokon of Meherpur-2, Mamata Hena Lavli of women seat-31, Jatiya Party lawmaker Fazley Imam of Mymensingh-8, and Raushan Ara Mannan of women seat-47, also took part in the discussion.
The lawmakers also thanked the President for giving a timely speech highlighting the success stories of the government and guiding the nation towards peace, progress and prosperity.
Earlier, they paid a rich tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for his contribution to establishing an independent Bangladesh.
