Bangladesh has adequate doses of Covid-19 vaccine and there won't be any shortage in the future, Health Minister Zahid Maleque assured the people on Wednesday.
He said Bangladesh is way ahead in vaccination campaign as most countries are yet to get their doses.
Around 2.5 million people have registered for receiving the jab, the minister said. Bangladesh currently has seven million (70 lakh) doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine and the government is providing them for free.
He said according to World Health Organization's directive, the second shot will have to be taken after 8 weeks of the first one.
After the first shot, three months is the time limit for receiving the second one, Minister Maleque said, noting that the vaccine is more effective when you wait longer to receive the second jab.
He said text messages are sent to people according to a particular centre's capacity to inoculate within a day.
"There's nothing to be worried about as the country has no shortage of doses," he said, adding, "there won't be any in the future.'
