Former BGMEA president Rubana Huq received the Human Rights Award by CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards 2022 on the occasion of the Milan Fashion Week.

The National Chamber of Italian Fashion (CNMI) organised the award ceremony on Sunday at the Teatro Alla Scala opera house in Milan, Italy.

The CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards 2022 featured and awarded personalities who have emerged in the Italian and international fashion industry for their commitment to sustainability in its highest sense: vision, innovation, commitment to craftsmanship, inclusivity, circular economy, human rights and environmental justice.

Dr Huq was recognised by the Artistic Director of Valentino, Pierpaolo Piccioli. In her speech, Dr Huq paid tribute to garment workers and manufacturers and urged the fashion world to be more inclusive and considerate of apparel-producing countries and help them to graduate from basics to fashion.

Other notable figures who received awards included Eileen Fisher, Giorgio Armani, and companies awarded for sustainability included Timberland, Bottega, Zegna and others.
