The government run non-profit-organisation, Amader Gram handed over 50,000 face masks to the administration of Rampal upazila in Bagerhat Wednesday afternoon.
Under facilitation from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, officials from Amader Gram handed over the masks to the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Rampal, Md Kabir Hossain, at the Upazila Parishad Milonayatan of the district.
The masks were then handed over to the community level health workers to ensure proper mask-wearing and reduce Covid-19 transmission in the rural areas.
Along with the UNO, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Sukanta Kumar Pal, Joint Director Amader Gram Kakoli Rani Haldar and Organising Committee Members of the organisation-- Sheikh Saadi, Sumit Mandal, Alamin Sheikh, Sadia Islam, Sadhan Bhandari, Khadija Khatun were present on the occasion.
Sheikh Saadi, the programme organiser of Amader Gram, said 50,000 masks had been provided in the first phase to facilitate 45,000 families in 136 villages under 90 wards and ten unions of the upazila. He also said about 85,000 more masks would be donated through the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the ‘Amader Gram Community Based Digital Health Services” programme.
