Banners and festoons around the mural of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Bakultola in Jashore were immediately removed in line with the order of State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development (LGRD) and Cooperatives Swapan Bhattacharjee.
Being informed that banners and festoons were placed in such a way on National Mourning Day which almost covered the mural of the Father of the Nation, the state minister visited Friday night. During the visit, he directed Deputy Commissioner (DC) Tamizul Islam Khan to remove all banners, festoons and also two big gateways near the mural.
In accordance with his instruction, all banners-festoons and arches around the mural were removed by 10 am on Saturday, the release said.
