Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) officials and farmers in Manikganj are expecting bumper Aush rice production this Kharip-1 season as 2957 hectares of land were brought under its cultivation with a production target of 10,611 tonnes of clean rice.
According to the DAE, farmers cultivated two high yielding Aush paddy varieties on 3,952 hectares of land with a production target of 10,493 tonnes and local variety on 93 hectares of land with a production target of 118 tonnes of rice.
Aiming to increase the production of Aush paddy, the government disbursed agro-incentive to 3,600 small and marginal farmers in the district under its “Agriculture Incentive Distribution Programme”.
Under the programme, each of the farmers received five kilograms of Aush seeds, 20 kilograms of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) and 10 kilograms of Muriate of potash (MOP) free of cost for cultivation of one Bigha of land.
