Saddyapuskorini Union Digital Centre (UDC) in Rangpur Sadar upazila has become an icon of reaching digitised services to people ensuring urban facilities in rural areas gradually turning local villages into towns.
Some 100 rural people are easily availing more than 125 online or offline services daily from the UDC without going to the district or upazila headquarters.
Ratna Begum of village Saddyapuskorini said she came to the UDC to get her lost national identity card and all related documents copied.
She talked to entrepreneur of Saddyapuskorini UDC Arifuzzaman Moon and sought his cooperation in getting a photocopy of her lost national identity card.
“I have a complete voter list of Saddyapuskorini union. I searched her national identity card, found and downloaded a copy from online services and delivered it to her within a few minutes,” Moon said.
Ajoy Roy of village Deodoba and Anwara Begum of village Uttarpara said they applied at Saddyapuskorini UDC to get land ‘Porcha.’
Both of them received auto generated receipt copies of land ‘Porcha’ from the UDC in only seven working days paying only Tk 110 each.
Abdur Rahman of village Mistripara and Sabitri Rani Roy of village Adarshapara came to the UDC and easily received Taka 3,000 each as old age allowances.
Beneficiary of the Employment Generation Project for the Poorest, Selima Khatun of village Bhelubaor came to the UDC to draw wages for earth works she conducted under the project.
“Like my other fellow workers, I easily drew Tk 5,400 through agent banking from the UDC,” said Selima.
Housewives Nazmun Akhter of village Balapara and Roxanna Begum of village Hajipara rushed to the UDC and easily got Tk 4,800 each as maternity allowances.
Youths Joydal Mian of village Palichara and Jharna Nazmin of village Fazilkhan approached to the UDC and submitted their applications for jobs.
Like many others, Biplob Miah of village Keshobpur Mistripara paid his electricity bill after coming to Saddyapuskorini UDC.
Local businessman Moksedur Rahman Dulu said, “I regularly send all applications and documents related to business from the UDC easily.”
Retired Assistant Teacher of Podaganj High School Abdur Razzaque said he submitted an application from Saddyapuskorini UDC and easily became a member of the Non-government Teachers’ and Employees’ Welfare Trust.
