As many as 200 jobless people got food assistance by making calls at 333 helpline in Gaibandha district.
Sources said around 200 people called helpline 333 and requested the government officials to provide them with food items to help pass their days amid coronovirus.
In response, Sadar upazila and district administrations took necessary measures to provide the callers with food items to mitigate their sufferings.
The food materials were distributed to the callers as the gift of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
A function on food distribution organised by Sadar upazila administration was also held on the premises of Islamia High School of the town on Monday noon.
Deputy commissioner Abdul Matin presided over the function. Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad and local lawmaker Mahabub Ara Begum Gini addressed it as the chief guest.
Earlier, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Abdur Rafiul Alam delivered the welcome speech in the function.
Each of the beneficiaries got rice, pulse, oil, suzi, noodles, sugar, puffed rice and chilli.
