Transplantation of Transplanted Aman (T-Aman) seedling is nearing completion in all the six upazilas of Narsingdi district and the target fixed by the agriculture department might be exceeded this season.

Deputy Director, Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), Narsingdi Shovon Kumar Dhar told BSS on Wednesday at his office.

According to the DAE, a total of 42,180 hectares of land have been brought under Aman cultivation against the target of 42,508 hectares in six upazilas of the district.

He said that the target fixed by the department might exceeded as a good number of farmers living on river basins Sadar and Raipura upazilas would cultivate late variety Aman paddy on their char land just after receding the water from the char.

Meanwhile, the transplanted seedlings of Aman paddy have grown well, and the paddy fields have turned greenish. The growers are now busy nurturing the paddy fields to get the desired production of the crops this season.

The deputy director said Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation distributed high-quality Aman seeds to the farmers of the district at a fair price.

He said the availability of fertilizers, insecticides and other necessary agri-inputs had been ensured to the farmers of the district during the current Aman season.
