‘Contribution of journalists to social advancement undeniable’

The contribution of journalists to the advancement of the society are undoubtedly undeniable as their informative news contributes a lot to the progress of the country.

“Besides serving news, journalists are largely contributing to social activities although they spend maximum time in their risky profession,” said Superintendent of Police (SP) of Rangpur Biplob Kumar Sarker.

He was speaking as the chief guest at a function as City Press Club, Rangpur adorned two persons with its life time membership at its office in the metropolis on Monday night.

In the function, Tanvir Ahmed Tushar, a social and sports organiser and member of the British- Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Antar Rahman, a singer and media personality, were awarded life time membership of the press club.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters and Administration) of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) Md Mohidul Islam attended the function as an invited guest.

The SP said the gentle breeze of peace has come to many families following the publication and broadcast of humanitarian news of journalists.

“Apart from the police, journalists have also made important contributions to the development of law and order in Rangpur district,” he said.

He called upon journalists to enhance professional standards working at the field levels.

Earlier, the chief guest and invited guest and lifetime members were given honorary mementos with floral greetings.
