Fishermen to get food assistance

The Fisheries Department will disburse rice among 8,000 fishermen families in the Jamalpur to assist them during the ban period of Hilsha fishing.

District Fisheries Office sources said under the vulnerable group feeding (VGF) programme, the rice will be disbursed among the fishermen families.

Fishermen in Dewanganj, Islampur, Madarganj and Sarishabari upazila in the district will get food assistance. Each of the families will get 20 kilogrammes of rice.
