Tech-based teaching can ensure world-class education: Speakers

Speakers at a programme on Friday laid emphasis on introducing technology-based teaching and learning in the country to ensure world-class education.

They made the observation while addressing an award ceremony – Award for Teachers -2021: Leadership in Crisis – at ‘Sheetal Auditorium’ in the Rangpur city.

Some 200 primary, secondary, madrasa and higher secondary level teachers, who are ICT District Ambassadors from different educational institutions under the eight districts of the division, joined the event.

Rangpur Divisional ICT 4E Ambassador Teachers Forum, Aspire to Innovate [a2i] Program of the ICT Division and Grameen Phone Ltd jointly organized the event.

Experts, scholars, researchers, curriculum experts, education officials under the Ministry of Education attended the program.

Begum Rokeya University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Hasibur Rashid was the chief guest of the event, while Joint Secretary and a2i Project Director Dr Dewan Mohammad Humayun Kabir was the guest of honor.

Rangpur Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) AWM Raihan Shah chaired the programme.

Addressing the event, Dr Hasibur said that continuous professional development is much needed for the teachers to remain updated with knowledge and information.

“They need to be proficient in technology-based teaching-learning to impart world-class education among the learners,” he added

After greeting the teachers, he also urged them to be sincere and dedicated to their profession to develop skills and capacity among the learners to cope with the future challenges of the world.

Dr Dewan said the country has witnessed a tremendous digital transformation during the lockdown. The government had launched Sangsad TV and radio broadcasts and schools opened virtual platforms to minimize the academic losses of the students soon after the pandemic began.

“Digital education has proven to be one of the most popular educational tools during the pandemic throughout the world. The government has given top priority on Science and technology-based teaching and learning in the country,” he added.

Around 5 lakh teachers were registered in the largest online platform Teachers Portal of the Access to Innovate by the a2i.

Of them, some 1845 are recognized as ICT Ambassadors.

Principal Rangpur Teachers’ Training College, Professor Amjad Hossain, Deputy Director, Secondary Education, Rangpur, Md Akhtaruzzaman, District Primary Education Officer, Shajahan Siddique, District Education Officer, Ruksana Begum, Associate Professor and a2i Attached Officer, Mohammad Kabir Hossain, Associate Professor Rangpur Teachers’ Training College, Md Jahangir Hasan, Chief Business Officer Grameen Phone Ltd , Kazi Mahbub Hasan addressed the programme among others.

E-Learning Specialists, a2i, Mohammad Afjal Hossain Sarwar made a presentation on blended teaching-learning.

Head Teacher, Kaligonj Karimuddin Public Pilot High School, Lalmonirhat, Khurshiduzzaman Ahamed made the welcome address while, Principal, Robertsongonj High School & College, Rangpur, Zakir Hossain gave the vote of thanks.
