Tk 31m realised in fines from Bogura highway

A Tk 31.5 million in fines has been collected by police from 12,000 unregistered vehicles on the Dhaka-Bogura highway in the last nine months. Bogura Superintendent of Police Munshi Shahbuddin confirmed the matter.

According to highway police sources, some 12,742 cases have been filed against the unregistered vehicles as well as three wheelers with highway police station, outposts and camps from January to September 30. Shahbuddin said they are always alert to maintain law and order on the highway.

“We are working to increase awareness among people through distributing leaflets, banners and festoons as part of our awareness-building programme,” he added. A total of 1,336 cases were filed in January, 2,180 cases in February, 2,521 in March, 1,490 in April, 1,435 in May, 1,333 in June, 681 in July, 750 in August and 1,016 in September.
