Hundreds of vehicles waiting to cross river at Paturia

Over 1000 vehicles are waiting in queues at Daulatdia ferry ghat to cross the Padma River.

People using Paturia-Daulatdia ferry route are facing serious trouble triggered by tailbacks on the roads to the ferry terminals for slowed down ferry service.

During visit, the scenario was seen at 12pm on Saturday.

Officers of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation said the ferry service has slowed down due to lack of number of ferries and ghats and navigability problem.

Md Shihab Uddin, manager (commerce) of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) in Daulatdia ferry ghat, said number of vehicles has increased at the ferry ghat from last week. But the ferry service has slowed down due lack of number of ferries and ghats and navigability problem.

As a result, hundreds of vehicles including bus and trucks are waiting at Daulatdia and Paturia ferry terminals, he said.
