Youth ‘kills self’ jumping from a hotel in Chattogram

A young man reportedly killed himself by jumping from the 20th floor of Radisson Blu Chattogram Bay View in Chattogram on Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Arif Kabir, 24, son of Enamul Kabir, a resident of Mohammadpur Police station area in Dhaka.

Rafat Salman, public relations officer (PRO) of Radisson Blu, said Arif went to the open space on the 20th floor of the five-star hotel on Monday evening and ordered food at the restaurant there.

After having the food, he started behaving in a strange way and pretended to fall asleep instead of paying the bill.

As the restaurant manager insisted him to pay the bill, he jumped from the floor, the PRO said. 

Severely injured Arif was taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Confirming the matter, Kotwali Police Station officer in-charge Nezam Uddin said police are sincerely investigating the matter.
