Three killed in Chandpur road crash

Three college students were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a CNG-run autorickshaw on the Hajiganj-Kachua-Gaurpur Koriya Bishwa road under Kachua upazila in Chandpur on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Urmi, 21, Rifat, 21, and Saddam Hossain, 20.

All the deceased were students of Cumilla Victoria College and residents of Kachua upazila.

The accident occurred around 7.30am when the Dhaka-bound BRTC bus hit the Cumilla-bound autorickshaw coming from the opposite direction in the Bishwa road area, two students travelling in the auto dead on the spot while three others, including its driver, sustained injuries, officer-in-charge (OC) of the Kachua police station Md. Mohiuddin said.

The injured were rushed to Kachua Upazila Health Complex where another student was declared dead.

Both the vehicles have been seized, officer-in-charge (OC) of the Kachua police station Md Mohiuddin added.
