4,000 farmers get agri-incentives in Cumilla

The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) today distributed seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agricultural incentives among 4,600 small and marginal farmers of Chandina upazila of the district on Saturday morning.

Professor Dr Pran Gopal Datta, MP, from Cumilla-7 constituency distributed the seeds and fertilizers among the farmers under the agricultural incentive as the chief guest at a function held at the Chandina upazila parishad auditorium this morning.

The chief guest said the present government is farmer-friendly one as it has taken various steps for development of agriculture. Upazila Agriculture Officer Monirul Haque Rommel told BSS that 1,300 farmers of the municipality and 13 unions, were given 5-kg of paddy seeds (hybrid), 10-kg of DAP, 10-kg of MOP fertilizer each and 3,300 farmers were given 2-kg hybrid paddy (ufshi) each free of cost.

Upazila Parishad Chairman Bir Muktijoddha Tapan Bakshi, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ashrafun Nahar, Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Amena Begum, Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officers Md. Masud Rana, Golam Sarwar Sohel, Md. Tamiz Uddin, Shailas Chandra Majumder, among others, were present, on the occasion.
