College student killed in Bogura

An HSC exam candidate was killed in Khandar area of Bogura on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Mohon, 22, a student of Bogura Government College.

Police suspect that the incident may have taken place over a previous dispute, reports our correspondent.

According to police, Mohon and his friends Bappi and Likhon were returning home on a motorcycle around 10:40pm. At one point, some miscreants blocked their way and soon an altercation ensued. Bappi and Likhon managed to flee the area after being beaten up, leaving Mohon to fend off the attackers on his own.

The miscreants then stabbed Mohon in several parts of his body, including in his thighs.

He was rushed to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and died while undergoing treatment around midnight.

SI Shamim of Silimpur police outpost said the body was kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy, adding that Mohon’s two injured friends have been given first aid.

Police are trying to figure out the reason that instigated the incident and the whereabouts of the assailants, said Inspector Abul Kalam Azar of Bogra Sadar police station.
