Students in Gazipur block highway for half fare in buses

Students on Saturday blocked the Tongi highway in Gazipur demanding half fare in local public transports for them.

Students of Safiuddin Sarkar Academy and College blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway in College Gate area around 10.30am on Saturday, causing a traffic jam in the area. The protesters chanted slogans noting that half fare in local buses was their right. OC of Tongi West Thana Md Shah Alam confirmed the news.

Senior police officers went to the spot to understand the students. The demonstration continued till 11am.
