‘UDCs playing crucial role’

The union digital centres (UDCs) are playing a crucial role in reaching digital e-services to rural people creating a stronger foundation of turning villages into towns pushing Bangladesh toward a developed nation.

The observation came today at the launching function of the month-long 'Digital Bangladesh E-service Campaign -2021' at the Town Hall auditorium here marking the 11th founding anniversary of the digital centres.

The district administration organised the function with assistance of the aspire to innovate (a2i) programme of the Information and Communication Technology Division (ICT). Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan attended the function as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) AWM Raihan Shah in the chair.

Superintendent of Police Md. Ferdous Ali Chowdhury, President of district Awami League Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, former district unit commander of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad valiant freedom fighter Mosaddek Hossain Bablu and Rangpur Press Club President Mahabub Rahman were present as special guests.

The chief guest with special guests formally cut a cake in observance of the 11th founding anniversary of the digital centres and formally launched the 'Digital Bangladesh E-service Campaign -2021' in the district.

All 152 entrepreneurs from 76 UDCs in eight upazilas of the district, with one male entrepreneur and one female entrepreneur from each UDC, public representatives, officials and employees, teachers, students and youths attended the function.

Sharing his experience, Entrepreneur Arifuzzaman Moon of Saddyapuskorini UDC under Rangpur Sadar upazila said the UDCs are reaching digital e-services to rural people to make the government's programme of turning every village into a town a reality soon.

The speakers said rural people are getting government services through the UDCs in a hassle-free manner to accelerate rural development and improve living standard alongside achieving huge macroeconomic success.

They said digital facilities have become inseparable parts of civic life in rural areas where developments are currently taking place in every sector when the country is on the highway of development.
