Six shops gutted in Madaripur

At least six shops gutted in Madaripur shops were gutted as a fire broke out at Puran Bazar under Sadar upazila in Madaripur district on Thursday night.

The fire originated at a shop around 9pm and soon engulfed the adjacent shops, said assistant deputy director of Barishal Fire Service and Civil Defence Mofazzel Hossain.

Being informed, two fire fighting units went to the spot and doused the blaze after three hours of frantic effort.

Traders claimed that the damage from the fire is estimated around Tk 2 crore.
