60 conservancy workers get protective wares

Some 60 conservancy workers of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) were given health protective wares, including gumboot, hand glove and vest, aimed at facilitating them to maintain hygiene during their service delivery works.

Prior to this, they were given orientation on health protection so that they can discharge their duties through protecting them from various diseases.

Brac’s Urban Development Programme (UDP) provided the need-based wares and orientation at the city bhaban conference hall on Monday as an effort to tackle the present pandemic situation.

Ten garbage removal vans were also distributed on the occasion.

RCC Panel Mayors Shariful Islam and Tahera Begum, Chief Conservancy Officer Sheikh Mamun and UDP Regional Coordinator Farjana Parveen were present at the distribution ceremony.

Illustrating the objectives of the UDP, its vactivities and implementation strategy, Farjana Parveen said around 70,000 people from 18,400 households living in different slum areas in the city are getting privileges of improving their living and livelihood conditions by availing different facilities.

Earlier, around 4,000 underprivileged families were given a total of Tk 60 lakh aimed at lessening their financial hardship amid the Covid-19 on behalf of the UDP.

Each of the beneficiary families got Tk 1,500 provided as an effort to tackle the present troubled situation.
