The ten-day-long ‘Entrepreneurship Fair’ ended on Friday at the Public Library Compound of Rangpur amid huge enthusiasm and gatherings.

The district administration and Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) organised the fair on the Public Library premises to facilitate small and medium enterprises (SME), create jobs and enhance economic growth.

Hundreds of people of all ages, primarily females, have participated in the fair in Rangpur amid huge sales of locally produced quality products.

The fair has created enthusiasm among local entrepreneurs amid pleasing sales as the number of buyers were higher this year. Hundreds of buyers were roaming around the fair on the concluding day to get their desired deals from the sellers.

The fair has created a real scope for promoting the local SME sector, enhancing the production of quality SME products, exhibition and introduction of SME goods for expanding business, trade and commerce.

At the concluding day, huge sales of locally produced SME products have been noticed at all stalls set up by different entrepreneurs.

The visitors are purchasing mostly SME goods like leather and jute-made products, mats, handicrafts, processed agricultural products, toys, electrical and electronic goods, clothes, household goods, design and fashion wares and other products in the fair.

University students Sohana, Aklima and Fatema, college student Mehenur, housewife Saleha Khatun, couple Abdul Malek and Nurun Nahar, who came to the fair, said every locally produced SME product exhibited there is of high quality. Earlier, Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Md. Abdul Wahhab Bhuiyan inaugurated the fair on January 4 last as the chief guest.

The fair is being organised to exhibit and sell SME products, promote the SME sector, create jobs, expand the market, trade, and business by making SME entrepreneurs capable of facing competitiveness.

Deputy General Manager, BSCIC, Rangpur, Shamim Hossain said, “We arranged the fair mainly to promote the small and mid-level entrepreneurship and create the branding and marketing of their products. We got a huge response from the entrepreneurs this year.”
