Two Ctg customs officials sent to jail

A Chattogram court on Thursday sent two customs officials to jail in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) over embezzlement of government revenue amounting to Tk 24.33 lakh.

The two customs officials are Rabiul Islam Mollah, suspended assistant revenue officer (section-B) of Chattogram Customs House, and Nasiruddin Mahmud, former revenue officer of the same organization.

Chattogram Metropolitan District and Sessions Judge Sheikh Ashfaqur Rahman passed the order after they surrendered before the court in connection with the case, said ACC’s lawyer, Advocate Kazi Sanowar Ahmed Lavlu.

“The accused officials appeared before the court and appealed for bail, but their appeal was denied, and they were sent to jail rejecting their bail petition,” said the lawyer.
