A Lakshmipur court on Wednesday sentenced a man to life term imprisonment in a case filed over killing a businessman in Ramganj upazila of the district in 2019.
District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Rahibul Islam pronounced the judgement.
The court also fined lifer Md Mohsin Tk 10,000, in default, to suffer one year more imprisonment.
According to the case statement, victim Anisur Rahman Azad’s nephew Riyadh Hossain Titu had a dispute with Mohsin.
On July 8, 2019, Mohsin attacked Titu with sharp weapons. As his uncle Azad came to save him Mohsin attacked him, leaving him injured.
When he was taken to the Upazila Health Complex a doctor declared him dead.
Victim’s wife Selina Akhter filed a murder case against Mohsin at Ramganj police station the following day.
On September 10, 2019, police submitted a chargesheet against accused Mohsin.
